Jamaica Plain

Jamaica Plain known as JP has been referred to as the “Eden of America” because it is home to a majority of Boston’s famous Emerald Necklace parks designed by Frederick Law Olmstead. The lush Arnold Arboretum, owned by the City of Boston and managed by Harvard University and picturesque Jamaica Pond are enjoyed by many city residents. In addition to the suburban feel, JP has a thriving and multi-cultural business district on Centre Street with many unique shops, cafes and culturally diverse restaurants. There has been a re-emergence of local craft breweries adding to an original operating since the late 1800’s. Public transportation includes MBTA bus and rail services, Green line E train, Orange line and the Needham Line Commuter rail making this a popular residential area.
