1031 Exchanges

What is a 1031 Exchange?  A 1031 tax-deferred exchange allows owners of certain investment or business property to defer paying taxes capital gains on their sale if the owner acquires "like kind" replacement property within a certain time of the sale.

Timing:  The timing of a 1031 exchange is critical, which is why it is crucial to work with an expert.  Generally, you must identify the replacement property within 45 days of the sale and close on the sale of the replacement property within 180 days of the sale of the original property.
