Top 5 Real Estate Movies

Spending an evening indoors to escape the heat or relax (or both)? If you are looking for some movie recommendations, here are some of our favorite “real estate” movies (in no specific order):

1.  The Big ShortThe Big Short is the true story of how the housing boom of the early 2000s, along with risky mortgage lending and Wall Street greed, led to the 2008 financial crisis. Through engaging storytelling and sharp humor, it makes complex real estate and financial concepts easy to understand, while showing the real-world impact of the housing bubble that burst.

2.  Glengarry Glen RossGlengarry Glen Ross is a classic real estate movie! It captures the intense, high-pressure world of real estate sales, offering a powerful look at the human side of the industry and the relentless drive to succeed. Beyond its intense drama, Glengarry Glen Ross is packed with dark humor. The film's fast-paced dialogue, relentless sales pitches and unforgettable one-liners, especially Blake's infamous "Coffee is for closers" speech, provide plenty of laughs.

3. The Money PitThe Money Pit is a comedy about a couple who buys a large, dilapidated mansion at a suspiciously low price. This fixer-upper-gone-wrong features Tom Hanks and humorously illustrates the emotional toll that come along with renovating a property. (*Don’t let this movie scare you away from purchasing a fixer-upper of your own; just be sure you have a good real estate agent and renovation team on your side!*)

4.  Duplex – In Duplex, a young couple has a chance to move into a gorgeous New York duplex. It’s their dream home – but the catch is that it comes with a sweet-looking elderly tenant who lives on the top floor. Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore learn that the elderly lady isn’t as sweet as she seemed.

5.  I Love You, ManI Love You, Man is a funny take on a “day in the life” of a real estate agent. Paul Rudd stars as a real estate agent with no friends who begins a search to find someone to be the best man at his wedding. Along the way, you get to see open houses, Paul taking calls and some great billboard advertising.
